The Municipality of Clare's Community Development Department is excited to announce a new Grant opportunity for our local youth.
Formerly known as the Community Recreation Assistance Program, the Young Champions Fund provides youth residing in Clare with support to represent their community at a provincial, regional, national, or international level of competition.
The highlights of this program and main changes from the former grant program are as follows:
- Only competitions at the Provincial, Regional, National, and International are eligible for funding.
- Competitions can be in sport, creative arts, performing arts, or other recreational activities.
- Applicants must now be 25 years or younger to apply (35 years and younger for those applying for Special Olympics events).
- Application questions have been changed to prompt higher engagement from applicants and provide qualitative data to reviewing committee members.
- All applications will be graded on an evaluation matrix, and the amount awarded will correspond with the results.
- Applications will now be reviewed monthly for events occurring in the next 90 days.
- Separate applications are available for groups/teams and individuals.
- Recipients will be featured as “Clare’s Young Champion” after competition, with results and congratulations.
- The change will take effect April 1, 2026.
We are thrilled to have a program such as this that encourages our youth to represent Clare on the competitive stage! We are proud to support the energetic and talented youth in our community!
