Two positions are available.

About the Police Advisory Board

Created under the authority of the Nova Scotia Police Act, the Police Advisory Board plays a key role in guiding and supporting policing efforts in our community. The Board works in collaboration with the local RCMP detachment to:

  • Advise Municipal Council on law enforcement and crime prevention strategies;
  • Determine community priorities and objectives for police services;
  • Ensure programs and strategies are established to support these objectives;
  • Promote policing that reflects local values, needs and expectations;
  • Act as a conduit between the community and the RCMP.

The Board includes three Councillors, two residents appointed by Council, and one member appointed by the provincial Minister of Justice. Meetings are typically held once per quarter.
