Municipality of the District of Clare
SWEARING IN CEREMONY
Wednesday, October 23, 2024, at 7:00 pm
Meeting held at 1185 Highway 1, Little Brook, NS

PRESENT: Council: Réanne Evans, Danny Hill, Réanne Cooper, Carl Deveau, Brian Comeau, Eric Pothier, Nadine Comeau, and Yvon LeBlanc
Staff: CAO Stéphane Cyr, Executive Assistant, Ashley Hanks, and Communications Officer, Anique Dugas

1)  Call to Order
The CAO called the ceremony to order at 7:00 pm.

2) Presentation of new Council
The CAO presented the new Council:

  • District 1 – Councillor Réanne Evans
  • District 2 – Councillor Danny Hill
  • District 3 – Councillor Réanne Cooper
  • District 4 – Councillor Carl Deveau
  • District 5 – Councillor Brian Comeau
  • District 6 – Councillor Eric Pothier
  • District 7 – Councillor Nadine Comeau
  • District 8 – Councillor Yvon LeBlanc

3) Signature of the Oath of Councillors
Starting with District 1, the CAO asked each Councillor to come up to the front of the room, and recite the Oath of Allegiance (pdfSee attached)

All 8 Councillors recited the Oath.

4) Signature of the Oath of Warden

The CAO asked if there were any nominations for the position of Warden. Councillor Yvon LeBlanc was nominated for the position of Warden and subsequently accepted. As there were no other nominations, the following motion was passed:

MOVED BY Councillor Carl Deveau and SECONDED BY Councillor Eric Pothier that Councillor Yvon LeBlanc be appointed as Warden for the Municipality of the District of Clare.
MOTION CARRIED

The CAO asked Councillor Yvon LeBlanc to come forward and recite the Oath of Allegiance for the position of Warden of the Municipality of the District of Clare (pdfSee attached). 

5) Signature of the Oath of Deputy Warden
The CAO asked if there were any nominations for the position of Deputy Warden. Councillor Eric Pothier was nominated for the position of Deputy Warden and subsequently accepted. As there were no other nominations, the following motion was passed:

MOVED BY Councillor Brian Comeau and SECONDED BY Councillor Danny Hill that Councillor Eric Pothier be appointed as Deputy Warden for the Municipality of the District of Clare.
MOTION CARRIED

The CAO asked Councillor Eric Pothier to come forward and recite the Oath of Allegiance for the position of Deputy Warden of the Municipality of the District of Clare (pdfSee attached).

6) Adjournment
PROPOSED BY Warden Yvon LeBlanc that the Swearing in Ceremony be adjourned at 7:25 pm.
